Upcoming Social Events.
The Port Potomac Social Committee has scheduled several Social events between now and the end of the year.
Trunk or Treat
Please join the Social Committee for a haunting good time, as we host Port Potomac’s 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat on October 26, 2019 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
"A Trunk or Treat is a Halloween event that is church or community sponsored. People gather and park their cars in a large parking lot. They open their trunks, or the backs of their decorated vehicles and hand out candy from their trunks. This event provides a safe family environment for trick or treating."
Don't have time to decorate your car? Come by clubhouse parking lot at 6:15 p.m. and decorate your car with your neighbors. An ample amount of extra decorations will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.
Set up time will be until the event starts in the North parking lot on the residence entrance side. Please only use one parking spot. Get there early to pick your spot. There will be treat bags for the treaters while they last.
Prizes will be given to the best decorated vehicles.
Community participation is required to make this event possible. Please RSVP if you plan to bring your cars to hand out candy. Residents are responsible for providing candy for the trunk or treaters. Let’s make this a great event for the little ghost and goblins of Port Potomac.
Please RSVP at the following link or on the Port Potomac HOA website.
Trunk or Treat
Daddy Daughter Dance and Mom Prom
The social committee is excited to invite you and your children to two upcoming fall dances. The dances will feature games, prizes, food & drinks, a face painter, and of course, plenty of dancing. We look forward to having you attend and make some great memories with your kids.
A quick note about the dances. While the dances are generally intended for Dads/Daughters (Nov 2nd) and Moms/Sons (Nov 9th), we understand that not all pairings will necessarily follow that structure, and we don't want to exclude anyone that wishes to go. For any "non-standard" pairings, please RSVP to the event aligning to the child/children's gender. For example, Grandmother/Granddaughter ---> Daddy/Daughter.

Commercial Vehicle Parking
It is against Port Potomac rules and regulations to park a commercial vehicle, boat, trailer and other commercial vehicles in Port Potomac. Commercial vehicles are only permitted to be parked inside the garage, where they are not visible.
The Association can enforce these rules on the private roads, using parking tags, hearings and towing. On the public roads the Association can not legally take any enforcement action. We can and do contact Prince William County Neighborhood Services and ask that they enforce their own ordinances against commercial vehicles on residential streets. This is a slow process and the county only acts if the vehicle is parked in the community at the time of the call and if they have an officer free. Commercial vehicles are usually parked on our streets at night and on weekends. When we are not here to see the violation or call Neighborhood Services.
If this is an issue that concerns you, remember that you can call Prince William County Neighborhood Services as a private citizen. You may report the commercial vehicle, trailer or other by calling 703/792-6500. Generally when dealing with no- emergency calls to the County, the more calls the likelier the chance they will respond.
Committee Volunteers Needed
Port Potomac is still looking for volunteer committee members for the Communications Committee and one volunteer for the Facilities and Grounds Committee. If you’re interested, attend a committee meeting and talk to the members about joining them. Your time and efforts are priceless to the community. In order to serve, you must be a member in good standing.

Clubhouse Update
The next phase of the project is Construction Documentation, which leads to filing of the construction permits with the county. The Association should receive the construction documents in 4 weeks. The target date for filing for the remaining permits is the end of October.
The locker room permit has been approved. The contractor is working out final details between the electrician and the designer. Changes in the approved plan have gone back to the county and we hope to get their approval by today or Monday. Once the final details are approved. Repair work on the locker rooms will begin.
Contract Updates
Brightview has completed the turf renovation project for this year and is now working on a common area tree pruning project. They will be pruning the common area trees to allow unobstructed walking, streetlight and street sign clearance and removing dead wood up to 10 feet.
The Board approved the repainting of yellow curbs, repainting the parking lines and repairs to the walking paths. This year we will be completing this project in the area located from Port Potomac Drive South to the townhouses and from Route 1 east to the power lines. We will notify you once this project is scheduled. Residents will need to make sure their vehicles are not parked on the street during the scheduled work.
